1780-05-02nd At a Meeting of the Selectmen May 2 1780. Ordered the Treasurer to pay William Tuck thirty pounds six shillings being abatement of his taxes for 1779, having met with repeated misfortune. Ordered the Treasurer to pay James Herrick £ 8.0.0 abatement of his rates in part for 1779 on account of his misfortune by sea. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Wm. Sears £ 8.10.0 being over taxed that sum in 1779. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Benjamin Obear one hundred one pound eleven shillings and six pence it being for abatement of the several persons taxes in his list for 1779 as followeth. Viz. wid. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Osman Cox £ 15.0.0 it being in part abatement of his taxes in 1779, being taken, detained long in captivity. Ordered the Treasurer to pay wid. Rebecca Wallis £ 11.4.0 being abatement of her late husband’s poll tax, he deceasing about the time the tax was made. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Mr. William Hazeltine £ 180 to enable him to supply the soldiers families to the first of March 1780. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Mr. Daniel Friend £ 300.0.0 in full for his keeping school one month in this Town.
