1780-01-17th At a meeting of the Selectmen Jan. 17 1780. Ordered the Treasurer to pay James Patch forty-two pound in full for keeping of Miriam nd Presson’s child still the 2 of Jan. 1780. Ordered the Treasurer to pay to Dea. Caleb Wallis 75/ for mending John Martin’s shoes. Ordered the Treasurer to pay George Stephens six pound fifteen shillings over taxed that sum in1779. Ordered the Treasurer to pay to William Butman £ 117 in full for keeping John Martin till the 7th of January instant and six pound for extraordinary charge as Surveyor on the Highway. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Capt. Moses Brown £ 122.9.0 sixteen pound of said sum for expenses at the Convention at Ipswich and £ 106.9 for his and Capt. Bartlett’s expenses and horse hire to Concord to the State Convention for setting of prices. The following orders were omitted being recorded in their proper place the minutes of them being mislaid. th At a Meeting of the Selectmen Jan. the 17 1780. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Isaac Gray 72/ for abatement of his poll tax in 1779, being old etc. Ordered the Treasurer to pay to Lieut. Jonah Dodge 110/ being taxed for a poll, more than he had in 1779 through mistake. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Richard Obear [illegible] thirteen pound ten shillings abatement of his tax, being taken, long absent. Ordered the Treasurer to pay wid. Marjorie Larcom twenty-one pound six shillings in part for keeping of Joseph Larcom the current year. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Ichabod Groves twenty-six pound, abatement of his taxes in part on account his being taken and long absent. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Capt. Nicholas Thorndike nine pound two shillings abatement of his son’s poll, being deceased. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Joseph Knowlton fourteen pound thirteen shillings and 9 pence for abatement of part of his tax, he paying the same at Wenham. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Davis Allen thirty pounds in part for his house rent when we had people in their with the small pox in 1779. Ordered the Treasurer to pay William Morse£ 6.0.0 abatement on account of his misfortune by sea.
