1779-05-28th At a meeting of the Selectmen May 28 1779. Ordered the Treasurer to pay the committee appointed to supply the soldiers’ families with necessaries the sum of two hundred fifty pounds to enable them to perform that service. st Mr. James Obear, Constable, presented the following receipts to be recorded June 1 1779. th March 28 1775. Received of James Obear the sum of ten pounds eight shillings of the Province Tax set on the Town of Beverly by the General Court in the year 1773 for which sum I have given the said James another receipt of the same tenor and date. With this by order of the Provincial Congress. £10.8.0Henry Gardner, Receiver. th Boston 5 February 1777. Received of James Obear ten pound three shillings & 7 pence being part of the Province Tax set on the Town of Beverly by the General Court for the year 1774 for which I have given the said Obear another receipt of the same tenor and date. £10.3.7Henry Gardner
