1779-04-06th At a meeting of the Selectmen April 61779. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Asa Dodge six pound one shilling and nine pence 41/9 for abatement of Thomas Francis tax, he belonging to the Continental Army and three pound for warning of Bass River Ward verbally 4 times for town meeting. Ordered the Treasurer to pay William Pedrick 39/ abatement in his war tax, paying the same in Marblehead and 40/ being overtaxed that sum in 1778. Ordered the Treasurer to pay wife of Daniel Woodberry nineteen pound ten shillings in full for keeping of Susannah Ellinwood’s child till 7th of April 1779. Ordered the Treasurer to pay William Butman forty pound thirteen shillings in full for keeping of John Martin till 7th of April 1779. Wid. Hannah Giles agreed with the Selectmen to keep Elizabeth Hayward’s son for four dollars per week commencing on the seventh of April 1779. Ordered the Treasurer to pay James Patch thirteen pound of the Town’s money for keeping nd one of Miriam Presson’s bastard children till 2 of April 1779. Ordered the Treasurer to pay John Morse 40/ overtaxed that sum in 1778. Ordered the Treasurer to pay wid. Abigail Elliott 36/ shillings overtaxed that sum in 1778.
