1779-12-07th At a Meeting of the Selectmen Dec. 7 1779. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Richard Obear 3d six pound abatement of his poll tax in 1778, he being taken, long absent. Ordered the Treasurer to pay John Hall six pound, absent at sea, if alive. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Peter Obear Jr. eighteen pound fourteen shillings and ten pence for abatement in his list as followeth. viz. £ 8.11.4 for John Fall’s tax, taken & very poor. 4.8.6 for John Molson’s tax, taken, if alive. 5.10.0 for Abigail Larcom’s tax, under poor. 0.5.0 for William Grove’s highway tax not warned. £ 18.14.10 Ordered the Treasurer to pay John Lovett 3d twenty-five pounds for extraordinary charge & labor as Surveyor of the Highways in Ward No. 4. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Peter Obear Jr. 30/ for warning of the Farm District for Town Meeting twice verbally in 1778. Ordered the Treasurer to pay William Butman twenty pound two shillings for extraordinary charge of labor done as Surveyor on the Highways in Ward No. 7 1778. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Constable Andrew Cleaves 72/2 for abatement in his list. viz. £ 1.15.8 for Elizabeth Buckman’s tax, poor. 12.4 for John Gould of Topsfield, he not improving. 1.4.2 for Joseph Lovett’s son’s poll tax, taken. £ 3.12.2 Ordered the Treasurer to pay William Woodberry 4th six pound over taxed in 1779. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Nathaniel Clark forty pound in full for keeping of his mother th till 7 of Octr. last. Ordered the Treasurer to pay William Standley ten pound for abatement of a poll tax to him through mistake 1779. Ordered the Treasurer to pay wid. Hannah Giles forty-seven pounds ten shillings in full for keeping of Elizabeth Hayward’s child till the 7th of January next. Ordered the Treasurer to pay David Standley 90/ he being tax for real estate through mistake in 1779. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Hasadiah Smith seventeen pound ten shillings in full for keeping and maintaining of Mary Woodberry till 7th of April 1779.
