1779-09-10th At a Meeting of the Selectmen Sept. 10 1779. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Thomas Stephens sixty-one pound fourteen shillings and six pence in full of his account for sundry services done for the Town as more particularly appear by his account on file. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Mr. Isaac Thorndike forty pounds in one ordere and twenty-nine pounds ten shillings in one other which is in full of his account to this day in making taxes & many other services done for the Town to this date as will more fully appear by his account on file. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Capt. Caleb Dodge six nine pounds fourteen shillings in full of his account for making taxes and sundry other services done for the Town to this date as will more fully appear for his account on file. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Capt. William Langdell thirty-eight pounds fourteen shillings in full of his account for sundry services to this date as per his account on file. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Joseph Wood one hundred twenty pounds eighteen shillings and six pence in full of his account to this date for making and reporting taxes, taking care of the poor about the small pox, going to Ipswich County Convention, money paid for the Town and for many other services as will more fully appear per his account on file. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Joseph Wood forty pound for his time, journey & expenses at th the State Convention held at Concord July 14 last for the purposes of stipulation of prices. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Thomas Stephens ten pound abatement of his taxes in 1778 by reason of losses by sea etc. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Thomas Stephens two hundred & nine pounds and six pence in full of his account for the expense of the Selectmen’s Committees, Assessors, Town Meetings, Town officers when sworn etc. etc. Ordered the Treasury to pay Francis Smith twelve pound in full of his account for mending of Colonel Thorndike’s truck wheels which the Town had for a field carriage and for an axle tree etc.
