1779-09-07th At a meeting of the Selectmen Sept. 7 1779. Ordered the Treasurer to pay wid. Abigail Tuck 120/ abatement for her son’s poll tax in 1778, taken & long absent. Ordered the Treasurer to pay William Tuck eight pound six shillings, it being abatement of his taxes in 1778, being taken and long absent. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Silas Walden 78/ being over taxed that sum in 1779. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Benjamin Brown nine pound ten shillings he being a person in this ordered state of mind, it being for the abatement of part of his tax in [illegible] on the account. Ordered the Treasurer to pay wid. Mary Butman 40/ being over taxed in 1779. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Mr. Daniel Friend seventy-five pound for keeping the Grammar School one month. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Lieut. Peter Shaw forty-seven pound 19/ ten pound three shilling of it for the expense of five men, Indians under the care of Andrew Gillman and £ 8.14.0 for the expense of the committee appointed to procure the militia for this Town and twenty-nine pound two shillings for time, trouble and expenses in cleansing of Dr. Woodberry’s house of the small pox etc.
