1778-05-22At a Meeting of the Selectmen May 22 1778. They adjusted accounts with Col. Henry Herrick, Town Treasurer, and said accounts stands as followeth viz. To accounts and orders this day allowed581 – 19 – 2 by a balance due on the last adjustment165 – 13 – 10 by cash paid 36 Continental soldiers 14 pound each504 – 0 – 0 by cash paid 38 Continental soldiers as bounty 18 pound each684 – 0 – 0 by cash paid Capt. John Woodberry for hiring of Continental soldiers442 – 16 – 0 by cash paid the committee for supplying the soldiers’ families600 – 0 – 0 to Treasurer’s premium for receiving and paying above 1721-9-021 – 10 – 3 2999 – 19 – 3 2320 – 6 – 8 £ 679 – 12 – 7 And there appears to be due to the said Treasurer to balance his account besides the whole account in page 159 six hundred seventy-nine pounds twelve shillings679 – 12 – 7 and seven pence.
