1778-04-04th At a meeting of the Selectmen April 4 1778. th Ordered that a Town meeting be warned and held on the 13 day of April instant at 4 o’clock afternoon at the stated place for holding town meetings in said Town to take under consideration a letter from the Town of Newburyport proposing that there be a Convention of the several towns in th this County by their delegates to be held at Mr. Treadwell’s Tavern in Ipswich on the 15 day of April instant to take under consideration the Constitution and form of government lately proposed by the Convention of this State to the Freeman thereof. And devise some proper method in which all the Freeman of said State may enjoy a form of government consonant to the natural rights of mankind and the principles of a free constitution etc. and act there on as they may think proper. To choose some person to serve Constable in the Ferry Ward in the room of Capt. Moses Brown, he refusing to serve. And there was a warrant issued out to Constable Edward Trask to warn the same accordingly. Attest Joseph Wood, T. Clerk
