1778-02-14th At a Meeting of the Selectmen Feb. 14 1778. th They ordered a Town meeting to be verbally warned and held on the 16 instant at the usual place for holding Town meetings in said Town at ten o’clock in the afternoon. To act on the request of Benja. Raymond, Benja. Jones Esq., Mr. Ebenezer Trask, and others. To see what measures may be taken to prevent the small pox spreading amongst us and to see what measures shall be taken to remove all such persons as are taken the small pox the natural way & by a inoculation and also to determine on some way to find out the persons that hath inoculated any person in said Town without leave and act and do any thing relative to said request as they shall think best. And there was warrants issued out to the following Constables verbally to warn the same: To Robert Baker to warn Royal Side [Ryal Side] & Bass River district. To Zachariah Gage to warn the Ferry district. To Benjamin Woodberry to warn the Farms ward. To Andrew Cleaves to warn Bald Hill ward. Attest Joseph Wood, T. Clerk.
