1778-01-08th At a meeting of the Selectmen Jan. 8 1778. Ordered the Treasurer to pay William Langdell £ 9 – 12 – 0 for 16 days making of estimates & the State, Town and Military tax for 1777. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Mr. Isaac Thorndike £ 7-16-0 for13 days making of the Town, State and Military taxes. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Joseph Wood £ 9-12-0 for sixteen days making estimates Town, State & Military Taxes 1777. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Dea. John Conant sixteen pounds seventeen shillings and five pence for the following services. For 16 days making of the Town, State and Military Taxes for 1777.9-12-0 For 2 ½ days about the poor & their clothing.10-0 For 5 days apportioning the highway tax to the Surveyors and making the tax.1-0-0 To himself and horse to Ipswich twice to meet the Committee of Safety and Expense.1-3-7 For 3 ½ days spent at sundry times about the small pox.0-14-0 For wood found for the people that have the small pox at Doc.
