1778-12-07th At a meeting of the Selectmen December 7 1778. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Capt. George Dodge ten pounds sixteen shillings, six pound of said sum for abatement of his Soldier Tax in 1777, he paying at Salem for the same purpose and £ 4-16 for money paid by him for clothing for the Town for the use of the Army as per resolve of court th March 13 1778. Ordered the Treasurer to pay wid. Rebecca Bowles twelve pounds six pound for Malachi Woodberry’s family having the small pox in her house and six pounds for her house for [illegible] family having the small pox in. Ordered the Treasurer to pay the administrator on the estate of Malachi Woodberry sixty-four shillings together with 72/ paid to wid. Bowles for house rent for three of their family to have the small pox in is in full for clothing found by them for the Town for the use of the Army and for monies and services done in the militia of this Town from the first of May 1777 till the first of May 1778. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Josiah Obear seventeen pounds thirteen shillings and eleven pence as followeth: 40/ for warning of 5 Town meetings. 15/ for verbally warning one ward three times. 18 for one day’s service as Committee for Supplying the Soldiers Families. 24/2 abatement of John Baker’s poll tax, absent. 40/6 Isaac Haskell’s rates, in captivity 37/10 for Ezra Flevent’s tax on his list, overtaxed that sum. £ 8-18 -5 for miscast in his list in his favor.
