1778-12-01Ordered the Treasurer to pay Benjamin Smith £ 5-17-2 as Surveyor on the Highways. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Constable Andrew Cleaves four pounds seventeen shillings and eight pence for abatements in his list as followeth viz. for Joseph Foster’s tax 25/3, in captivity for Daniel Wallis’ tax 32/7, deceased for Joseph Morse’s ditto 33/10, in captivity for wid. Hannah Foster ditto 6/ overtaxed. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Capt. James Lovett 44/10 per interest money for a note of hand the third year. Ordered the Treasurer to pay John Wallis 96/ for his son’s nursing of Tamzon John Brown, Negro, 16 days in 1777 of small pox. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Francis Smith four pounds ten shillings 60/ of said sum for extra charge on the Highway as Surveyor and 30/ for labor and repairing the Grammar School House in the First Parish. Ordered the Treasurer to pay wid. Elizabeth Ellinwood 2nd thirty-one shillings and nine pence twenty-four shillings and 2 pence of said sum for the abatement of her son John’s poll in 1777, in captivity and 7/9 together with a note of hand given up to her of 49/1 that she owed to John Martin, a person under the care of the Overseers, is in full for 13 months and twenty days house rent for Wm. Hale’s family in her house which expired on the 1st of May 1777. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Mr. Henry Herrick Jr.£ 30-0-0 for keeping of school one month which expired on November last.
