1778-09-22nd At a meeting of the Selectmen Sept. 22 1778. rd Ordered that a town meeting be verbally warned and held on Wednesday the 23 instant at 3 o’clock afternoon at the stated place for holding Town meetings in said Town to see what measures the Town will come into for to have that third part of the militia that are now sent for from this Town to march to Boston, not for to march there, but to tarry in this Town by reason of its exposed situation on the seacoast and act and do any thing relative to that affair as they in their wisdom shall think best. And there was warrants issued out to the five Constables to warn their respective wards accordingly.
