At the Meeting of Selectmen Aug. 41778
Ordered the Treasurer to pay wid. Elizabeth Chapman sixteen shillings and free pence 8/ of
said some for nails to build watch houses with in the year 1775 and 8/3 for sundry clothing for John
Martin, poor person under their care.
Ordered the Treasurer to pay William Batchelder £ 6-13-4 for keeping of District School near
Fairweather’s house the winter past.
Ordered Treasurer to pay Mr. Henry Herrick Jr.£ 35 for keeping of the cat Grammar School
the months of June and July last.
Ordered the Treasurer to pay William Butman £ 8-6-8 for keeping of John Martin his first
quarter as per agreement.
Ordered the Treasurer to pay Daniel Woodberry ten pounds in part for keeping of Susanna
Ellinwood’s child.
Ordered the Treasurer to pay Joseph Baker forty-seven pounds seven shillings seventeen
pounds all of it for the expense of the military officers when meet there about procuring men to go
into the army for this Town and £ 30-7-1 for the Selectmen’s expenses there and expenses of Town
meetings and so forth.
