1778-07-31st At a Meeting of the Selectmen July 31 1778 they order that a Town meeting should be warned and held on Saturday the first day of August next at nine o’clock in the morning at the stated place for holding of Town Meetings in said Town to be verbally notified. 1ly. To see what measures the Town will come into for the procuring of the militia that are sent for by authorities to reinforce the army of the State of Rhode Island on this most important occasion and raise money and act and do anything relative to that affair as they in their wisdom shall think best. 2ly. To determine how the militia that shall for the future be called for shall be procured to go into the public service and act any thing relative thereto as they shall think best. And there was a warrant issued out to the several Constables to verbally warn the same. Viz. to William Taylor to warn the Farms and Bald Hill Wards; Jonathan Dodge 2nd, the Ferry Ward; Edward Trask, Royal Side [Ryal Side] Ward;Asa Dodge, Bass River Ward. Attest Joseph Wood, T. Clerk
