At a meeting of the Selectmen February 4 1777.
Ordered the Treasurer to pay William Butman four pounds for keeping of John Martin his third
quarter as per agreement.
Ordered the Treasurer to pay Benjamin Leech 5/11 for extraordinary charge as surveyor on
the highway in Ward No. 5.
Ordered the Treasurer to pay Elisha Woodberry 4/6 for extraordinary charge as Surveyor of
the Highways.
Ordered the Treasurer to pay Richard Obear 51/6 forty-seven and six pence of said some for
12 days work build watch houses and laying of platforms etc. and 4/ for an iron mantle piece for
watch house at the Fort.
Ordered the Treasurer to pay Capt. Caleb Dodge 69/ shillings for keeping of wid. Mary
Woodberry 33 weeks at 3/ per week.
Ordered the Treasurer to pay Weedon Cole 12/ for six weeks house rent for Daniel
Woodberry and hauling said Woodberry’s goods away when he had small pox in his house.
Ordered the Treasurer to pay Benjamin Pickett 6/8 for shaving John Martin for the year 1776.
Ordered the Treasurer to pay wid. Hannah Elliott 8/ for house rent for Benjamin Pickett one
quarter which terminated the 3d. instant.
Ordered the Treasurer to pay Constable Jonathan Dodge 2nd thirty-three shillings and four
pence for the same his list of assessments, viz.
2 - 5 widow Mary Batchelder’s tax extreme poor.
5-0 Henry Hale Leech tax, died abroad.
5-0 Daniel Simmons tax, died abroad.
5-0 Reuben Kennison’s tax, killed at Lexington fight.
5-0 Moses Trask, died in the Army, left no things to pay.
5-0 Benjamin Verry, moved out of the town if living.
0-7 William Green’s highway tax, died abroad.
0-10 Daniel Twiss, extreme poor.
2-6 abatement of ½ of Abner’s poll tax.
2-0 for time spent in appointing Sealer of Weights and Measures.

Ordered the Treasurer to pay Nathaniel Creesy three pounds five shillings 23/ for myself,
horse to and expenses to carry Hope Beatle and child to New Salem from this Town and 16/ for
warning of 4 Town Meetings.
14/3 for abatement of Moses Trask rates in his list who died in the Army.
11/11 for abatement of Samuel Giles Jr. rates key not belonging to the Town.
