1777-07-14At a meeting of the Selectmen July 14,1777. Ordered the Treasurer to pay William Butman £ 4-3-4 for keeping of John Martin his first quarter as per agreement. th At a meeting of the Selectmen July 14 1777. Ordered that a Town meeting should be warned and held on the 16 of July instant at the usual place for holding Town meetings in said Town at 5 o’clock afternoon. To see if the town will give their consent for one or more classes to be inoculated with the small pox in the Hospital erected for that purpose in this Town provided the proprietors of said Hospital will engage to receive into said Hospital all such persons as shall break out with the Small Pox in the natural way in said town so long as it shall be improved for inoculation and for to act and do any thing relative to having the small pox as they in their wisdom shall judge to be for the good of the Town in general. And there was warrants issued out to the several Constables to verbally warn the same accordingly as followeth. viz. Constables. To Benjamin Woodberry to warn Bald Hill & Farms Districts. To Zachariah Gage to warn the Ferry District. To Robert Baker to warn the Royal Side [Ryal Side] District. To Josiah Obear to warn Bass River District.
