At a meeting of the Selectmen June 25 1777.

Ordered that a Town Meeting should be verbally warned and held on Monday the 30 instant
at the usual place for holding of Town meetings in said Town at three o’clock in the afternoon.
1ly. To choose a Committee to prosecute all breaches of the acts of the Great and General Court for
preventing of monopoly and oppression etc. as the law directs.
2ly. To see if the Town will have printed the list of prices set by the Selectmen and Committee of
Correspondence & agreeable to the laws of this State.
3ly. To choose a County Register of Deeds etc. and there was a warrant issued out to Constable
Robert Baker to warn Royal Side [Ryal Side] Ward and Bass River Ward or District to
Constable Zachariah Gage to warn the Ferry Ward or District, to Capt. Benjamin Woodberry
to warn the Farms and Bald Hill Districts. Accordingly at the same meeting of the Selectmen
they ordered Treasurer to pay Henry Herrick Jr. fifteen pounds for keeping of the Grammar
School three months expiring on the last day of May last.
I, the Subscriber, do hereby covenant, promise and agreed to and with the Selectmen of Beverly to

keep a Grammar School within said Town of Beverly three months commencing on the 14 of June
instant for the sum of fifteen pounds to be paid at the expiration of said term.
