1777-05-10th At a meeting of the Selectmen May 10 1777 agreed and ordered that a Town Meeting should th be called, warned and held on Monday the 19 day of May instant at 2 o’clock afternoon at the stated place for holding Town Meetings in said Town. 1ly. To elect and depute one or more persons to serve for and represent them in the Great and General Court or Assembly appointed to be convened, held and kept for the government th service at the State House in Boston in the County of Suffolk upon Wednesday the 28 day of May instant at ten o’clock in the morning and so from day-to-day during the session or sessions. 2ly. To take under consideration an act or resolve of the Great and General Court relative to the several towns giving their representatives instructions about forming a new constitution of government etc. and act thereon as they shall think best or proper. 3ly. To determine what sum of money they will grant to be assessed and raised on the ratable polls and estates within said Town the current year for the defraying of the necessary charges ensuing within the same. 4ly. To choose and accept some person to serve as Constable in the room of Zachariah Gage he satisfying him for the same, said Gage refusing to serve. 5ly. To see if the Town will grant the prayer of the petition of Asa Brown and others relative to their having liberty to work out their Highway Tax the current year on the way between their dwelling houses and the country road. 6ly. To act on the request of Capt. Nathan Leech, Capt. William Bartlett and others to see if the Town will give leave for such a number of the Inhabitants as shall choose to have the small pox to erect a house for that purpose or hire such convenient places as shall be safe and not endanger the Inhabitants for the benefit of inoculation or act any thing thereto. 7ly. To see if the Town will build or procure some house or houses for the reception of such persons as shall have the small pox and pass such votes relative thereto as they in their wisdom shall think best and there was a warrant issued out to Constable Josiah Obear to warn the same accordingly. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Mr. Josiah Obear £ 3:6:8 it being in full for a fish house bought of them at Woodberry’s Point of about 26 feet long and 16 feet wide.
