1777-04-01st At a meeting of the Selectmen April 1 1777 the following agreements were made. viz. I, the Subscriber, do hereby covenant, promise and agree to and with the Selectmen of Overseers of the Poor of said Town to keep and maintain Susanna Ellinwood and her child, poor persons, under their care the full term of one-year. Commencing on the 7th of April 1777 and for to find and provide for and unto the said Susanna and child good and sufficient meat, drink, washing, lodging & apparel, both in sickness and in health, during the whole of said term, doctors and nurses excepted, and at the expiration of said term to remove her and child to such place as the Selectmen shall appoint and as well clothed as I received them for and in consideration of receiving of the sum of four pounds seventeen shillings and four pence to be paid at the year end. I, the Subscriber, do hereby covenant, promise & agree to and with the Selectmen of the Town of Beverly to keep and maintain Hannah Clark, a poor person, under their care the full term th of one year commencing on the 7 of April 1777 and to find and provide for and unto the said Hannah good and sufficient meat, drink, washing, lodging and apparel, in sickness and in health, during the whole of said term, doctors and nurses excepted, and at the expiration of said term to remove her to such place as the Selectmen shall appoint and as well clothed as I received her for the sum of eight pounds ten shillings and eight pence to be paid the one half at the expiration of the first six months and the other half at the year’s end. Mercy Standley X her mark I, the Subscriber, do hereby covenant, promise and agree to and with the Selectmen of the Town of Beverly to keep and maintain Joseph Larcom, a poor person under their care, the full term th of one year commencing on April 71777 and for to find and provide for and unto the said Joseph good and sufficient meat, drink, washing and lodging and apparel during the whole of said term, doctors and nurses excepted, and at the expiration of said term to remove him to such place as the said Selectmen shall appoint and as well clothed as he was when I first to trip him in for and in consideration of receiving of the sum of eight pounds to be paid one half at the expiration of the first six months from said commencing and the other half at the years end as witness my hand. Marjorie Larcom. st Beverly April 1 1777 I, the Subscriber, do hereby covenant, promise and agreed to and with the Selectmen as Overseers of the Poor of the Town of Beverly to keep and maintain John Martin, a poor person under th their care, the full term of one year commencing on the 7 day of April 1777 and for to find and provide for and unto the said John good and sufficient meat, drink, washing, and lodging and mending, both in sickness and in health, during the whole of said term, doctors nurses & apparel excepted, and at the expiration of said term to remove him to such place as the said Selectmen shall appoint for and consideration of receiving the sum of sixteen pounds thirteen shillings and four pence to be paid quarterly as witness. st April 1 1777my hand William [illegible] st At a meeting of the Selectmen April 1 1777 the following agreement was made. I, the Subscriber, do hereby covenant, promise and agree to and with the Selectmen as Overseers of the Poor of the Town of Beverly to keep and maintain Deborah Roundy, a poor person under their th care, the full term of one year commencing on the 7 day of April 1777 and for to find and provide for and unto the said Deborah good and sufficient meat, drink, washing and lodging & apparel, both in sickness and in health, during the whole of said term, doctors and nurses excepted, and at the expiration of said term to remove her to such place as the Selectmen shall appoint for and as well clothed as I received her and in consideration of receiving of the sum of sixteen pounds to be paid quarterly. As witness my hand. st Beverly April 1 1777 I, the Subscriber, do hereby covenant, promise and agree to and with the Selectmen as Overseers of the Poor of the Town of Beverly to keep and maintain Martha Thissell, a person under their care, the th full term of one year commencing on the 7 day of April 1777 and find and provide for and unto the said Martha good and sufficient meat, drink, washing, lodging and apparel during the whole of said term, doctors and nurses excepted, and at the expiration of said term to remove her to such place as the Selectmen shall appoint and as well clothed as she was when I first took her for and in consideration of receiving the sum of six pounds to be paid in the yearly annuities that were given her on her hon. father’s will to be received within said term at the following prices: corn at 3/4 a bushel cider at 6/per barrel wood at the price it used to be usually some years ago and for to allow for the use of the cow one pound and if exchanged for a new milk cow to allow so much more as the Selectmen shall think just.
