1777-12-16At a Meeting of the Selectmen Decbr. 16th1777. Ensign James Woodberry, Surveyor of the Highway, returned and settled his list and the several taxes not by him crossed returned as not collected and there was due to the said Surveyor for extraordinary charge etc. 39/ which he now had an order for on the Town Treasurer. Joshua Balch, Surveyor of the Highway, returned his list and those persons therein not crossed as not by him collected and due to the Town 8/5 which Joseph Wood received. Ens. Bartholomew Trask, Surveyor of the Highways, settled his list of Highway tax those of them not crossed in the list returned as not collected and due to him for extraordinary charge etc. 2/8 which he then had an order for. Mr. Williams Taylor, Surveyor of the Highway, returned his list of Highway tax and those taxed not crossed on said list as not by him collected and there was founded due to said Surveyor for extra charge 50/8 which sum he had an order for on the Town Treasurer. Ordered the Treasurer to pay William Dixey 24/ for his wife’s nursing of Lydia Patch one week with the small pox. At the above said meeting of the Selectmen they abated a part of the Highway tax for 1777 of the following persons rates they being over to acts the several sums annexed to each of their names as followeth viz.
