1776-06-10th At a meeting of the Selectmen June 101776. th Ordered a Town Meeting to be warned and held on Thursday the 13 instead at 4 o’clock P.M.. at the usual place for holding town meetings in said Town to see if the inhabitants of this town will agreeably to the Resolves of the Great and General Court will give their Representative instructions that should the Honorable Continental Congress for the Safety of the Colonies declare them independent of the Kingdom of Great Britain they the said inhabitants will solidly engage with their lives and fortunes to support them in the measures. And there was a warrant issued out to Constable Samuel Woodberry to warn Mr. Hitchcock’s Parish and to Constables Nicholas Thorndike to warn the inhabitants of the first Parish accordingly.
