1776-02-27th At a meeting of the Selectmen Feb. 27 1776. They ordered a Town meeting to be called, warned and held on the eleventh day of March next at ten o’clock forenoon at the stated place for holding of Town meetings in said Town for to act on the following particulars viz.. 1ly. To choose Town officers for the year ensuing. 2ly. To choose a Committee of Correspondence, Inspection and Safety for the year ensuing agreeable to the Resolves of the Great and General Court etc.. 3ly. To choose a County Treasurer and County Register of Deed took s etc. 4ly. To see if the Town will mend their Highways the year ensuing by a tax on the polls and estates of its inhabitants and determine what some of money they will grant to be raised on the same for that purpose. 5ly. To see if the Town will give Liberty for their swine to go at-large the year ensuing being yoked and ringed as the law directs. 6ly. To see if the Town will purchase any of those cannon that are now in their fort or possession that are borrowed or any other cannon and act anything relative to purchasing or procuring of cannon and ammunition for the defense and safety of the Town as they shall think most necessary and expedient.
