Chairman Arthur Crandall John Hurley Robert Tanzella Thomas O'Connor Susan Alvey Amy Siemasko Re: Meeting of June 9, 1994 Members of the Cable Television Advisory Commission met in the conference room of the Beverly Public Library on June 9, 1994. Members present:. Torsey, Tanzella, O'Connor, Murphy, Alvey, Siemasko. The following action was'taken: · Three citizens - Joseph ScarceHa, 14 Bisson; Mario DiBernardi, 18 Browning; Nick Appoloni, 14 Russell St. - voiced concern that the Teleltalia channel (broadcasting two hours per day) was canceled in December 1993 with no notice. After several complaints to Conti- nental Cablevision and the execution of a petition drive, the channel was restored in April 1994. The citizens expressed disappointment that they had to expend such effort and energy and hoped the Commission would see to it that the Teleltalia channel remains. Cornml ssi on members · xpressed support for their efforts and promised to monitor the situation in the future. · Citizen Chris Devereaux, 39 Thorndike St., spoke to the commis- sion at length about what he saw as weaknesses in the Continental Cablevision operation of the cable system in Beverly. These com- ments ranged from customer service mistakes - especially with regard to senior citizens - to poor coverage of City Counc~ meetings. He raised the question as to whether the current commission had ever been formally registered with the st_n_te. · C~mmission members voted 6 - 0 to eleot the following offioers: Daniel C. Murphy, chairman: A1 Torsey, istant chairman. · Chairman Murphy will check on th~ structure of the commiS- SiOn. · Member Amy Siemasko will invehtory current television pmgram- mlng aimed at children and education. · Member Tom O'Connor has arranged a tour and orientation of Continental Cablevision facih'ties for the evening of 1tlne 21,-1994.
