1776-01-09At a meeting of the Selectmen Jan. 9th.1776. th Ordered that a Town meeting be warned and held on Wednesday the 17 of January instant at two o’clock afternoon at the usual place for holding Town meetings in said Town. 1ly. To see if the Town will hire any certain number of men for to guard or watch on the sea coast in this Town and to determine what way or measured they will come into with regard to keeping of said watch or guard and make such regulations for the same as they shall think proper. 2ly. To determine what some of money they will grant to be raised on the ratable polls and estates of this Town for defraying the charges of watching and guarding and other extraordinary necessary charges arising within the same etc. and there was a warrant issued out to Constable Wm.
