1775-12-05th At a meeting of the Selectmen December 5 1775. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Mr. Peter Pride eight shillings and five pence for extraordinary charge and labor done on the Highways as surveyor. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Capt. Jonathan Hart two shillings and eight pence for extraordinary charge as surveyor on the Highways in Ward No. 1 Ordered the Treasurer to pay Joseph Baker thirty-three shillings for keeping Samuel Greenleaf and family 4 days being some of the poor of Boston. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Capt. Caleb Dodge three pounds four shillings and four pence 5/8 of said sum for keeping George Leech his last quarter as per agreement and 11/8 for clothing found him. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Nathaniel Butman six pounds for keeping and nursing and for finding sundry necessaries for his sister twenty weeks when sick as his house. At the above said meeting of the Selectmen agreed with Mr. Josiah Morgan to keep Mary Butman till the 7th of April next for seven shillings per week if she continues in as good state of st health at she now is, if worse to have more, if better to have less, which time commenced on the 31 of October last. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Joseph Wood four pounds for the sundry in the following account viz. £-s-d 0-17-6 for 4 ½ days apportioning and making of the Highway tax. 0 -8-0 for two days reporting the same 0-8-0 for two days time in putting out and taking care of the poor to this day. 0-2-8 for a foot of wood for William Hale’s family 0-1-34 cash paid Wm. Woodbury 3d about Hope bedle. 0-8-0 for two days time spent in posting up notifications about clothing for the Army and twice in collecting the same agreeable to Congress. 0-10-0 for time spent in procuring of guns and blankets for the soldiers that enlisted out of this Town. 0-4-0 for perambulating the line with Wenham. 0-8-0 for time spent in taking account of corn bought of sundry persons for the Town and procuring beans and stores for the same. 0-4-4 for going to Salem twice and carrying of two prisoners and expenses. 0-8-3 for sundry services done for the Town as per his account this day exhibited. £ 4-0-0
