1775-11-02nd At a meeting of the Selectman of Nov. 2 1775 they ordered that a Town meeting should be warned verbally and held on Monday the 6th day of November instant at the stated place for holding Town meeting in said town at 1 o’clock in the afternoon for to act on the request of a number of its Freeholders, viz. 1ly. To see if the Town will make any regulations for the governing, keeping and using of their fort or breastwork lately built on Woodberry’s Head of the cannon therein placed and pass such votes relative thereto as they shall in their wisdom think most for the public safety. 2ly. To see if the Town make any regulations for the governing, keeping and using of their two field pieces of cannon lately procured and mounted for the safety of this Town and giving such directions for managing the same as they shall think necessary. 3ly. To see if the Town will choose firewards. 4ly. To see if the Town will build any breastwork or entrenchments in the same in any other place for their safety than those already appointed and give such directions 5ly. To see if it be the mind of the Town to stop up their harbor by sinking of vessels etc. and give such directions relative thereto as they shall judge most necessary. 6ly. To see if the Town will petition to His Excellency General Washington for any other apartment for a supply of ammunition and men for the safety of the Town under their present difficulty and act anything relative thereto so as they shall think most expedient. 7ly. To see if the Town desire the officers of the militia both of the Alarm and training band to inquire into the situation of their company and see they are equipped as the law directs and there was a warrant issued to the Constables Wm. Hazeltine to verbally warn the First Parish and to Wm. [illegible] the Precinct in said town accordingly. Attest. Joseph Wood, T. Clerk.
