1775-08-01st At a meeting of the Selectmen August 1. 1775. Ordered the Treasury to pay wid. Mary Morse one pound fourteen shillings and eight pence for keeping of Susannah Patch her first quarter as per agreement. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Benjamin Leech one pound six shillings together with 16/ worth of old clothing of Caleb Clerk, is in full for keeping of said Clerk five weeks and one half at 5/4 per week and 13/ for extraordinary charge as nursing and expense when he was sick and died at his house. Ordered the Treasury to pay Joseph Baker eight pound four shillings £7..5..4 of said sum for the Selectmen’s expenses and for the expenses at Town Meetings etc. and 18/8 for said Baker’s carrying two half barrels of powder to Watertown and expenses in said journey. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Joseph Baker six pound fifteen shillings and eight pence in full for the expenses of the Committee of Correspondence at has his house 20/8 of it was for expense when the Mr. Benja. Smith was brought before said Committee. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Mr. Francis Smith 13/ ten shillings of said sum for making a coffin for the body of Caleb Clerk and three shillings for work on the watch house as per is account. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Mr. Henry Herrick Jr. twelve pounds for keeping of the Grammar School in his first quarter as per agreement. Ordered the Treasurer to pay wid. Hannah Elliott eight shillings for one quarter’s house rent for Benjamin Pickett terminated on 3rd of August instant.
