1775-02-28 2nd sessionth At a meeting of the Selectmen of Beverly Feb. 28 1775. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Mr. Jonathan Perkins six pounds thirteen shillings and four pence for keeping of district school near William Dodge’s this winter. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Robert Baker Jr. three pound five shillings and six pence for keeping of Caleb Clark his second quarter as per agreement. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Joseph Wood 15/ for attending the County Congress at Ipswich. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Capt. Caleb Dodge seven pound eleven shillings and ten pence: five pounds five shillings and four pence for keeping of George Leech his second and third quarter as per agreement and 46/6 for board, shingles and nails and for [illegible] one time for the repairing of the School house near the upper meeting house in this town. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Hasadiah Smith 7/3 for the abatement of Benjamin Vary, tax in his list being extreme poor. th Boston Feb. 7. 1775 received from the Town of Beverly by the hands of Mr. Henry Herrick a donation consisting of the following articles viz. Two barrels of sugar - four hundred one quarts of sugar - one barrel rum - five and ½ quintals of fish- one hundred and five pound of coffee - two cheeses - eight pair of women’s and five pair of men’s leather shoes - one high upper leather & three calf skins cured - sixteen pound of chocolate - ten pounds of pork - twenty-five pounds of flax - one barrel of flour - and one and half bushels of corn for the relief and support of the poor in the Town of Boston suffering by means of the Boston Port Bill.
