1775-08-17th At a meeting of the Selectmen August 17.1775. Ordered that a Town meeting be warned and held at the stated place for holding town meetings in th said Town on Friday the 25 day of August instant at 4 o’clock afternoon. 1ly. To act on the request of the number of the Freeholders to see if the Town will choose a Committee of Correspondence and Inspection etc. 2ly. To see if the Town will be at the charge of providing of tents or barracks or other housing for the reception of the soldiers that are stationed to guard on the sea coast within this Town etc. and a warrant was issued out to Constable Nathaniel Creesy to warn the same accordingly.
