1774-10-04th At a meeting of the Selectmen October 4 1774. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Henry Herrick Jr. twelve pounds for keeping of the Grammar School his second quarter as per agreement. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Dr. Joseph Orne one pound six shillings & 4 in full for his doctors bill to this day for doing the poor of this town. Ordered the Treasurer to pay the wid. Hannah Giles four pound seven shillings 60/of said sum for keeping of Abigail Ellinwood her second quarter as agreed and 27/ for necessary and nursing for the six-months past to this day. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Ens. Bartholomew Trask fourteen shillings and seven pence. 6/3 of said sum for abatement of his servant’s poll he dying abroad about the time the tax was made in 1773 and 8/4 for Robert Twiss’ taxes in his list in 1772 he being extreme poor. Ordered the Treasurer to pay William Butman three pounds eighteen shillings for keeping of John Martin his second quarter as per agreement. Ordered the Treasurer to pay the wid. Mary Morse one pound thirteen shillings for keeping of Susannah Patch her second quarter as per agreement. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Benjamin Lovett Jr. three pounds eighteen shillings for the same sum advanced by him and paid the Courts Committee for laying out the way at the ferry as per their receipt. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Joseph Corning four shillings and eight pence for measures he made and found for the town standard. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Joseph Wood ten pounds. Six pounds twelve shillings of said sum for the passage of Medlish Franeway and Timothy Bussuway and his child to Quebec and 46/4 to pay to the said Medlish for her support after she arrived there as an encouragement for her to go and 21/8 for provisions and stores for the said Medlish on her passage to Quebec.
