At a meeting of the Selectmen July 5 1774.
Ordered the Treasurer to pay Mr. Jonathan Perkins six pound thirteen shillings and four pence
for keeping a District School three months, near the wid. Joanna Woodberry’s the winter past.
Ordered the Treasurer to pay wid. Mary Morse 32/ for keeping of Susannah Patch her first
quarter as per agreement.
Ordered the Treasurer to pay Mr. Jonathan Perkins 6/3 for abatement of his poll tax [illegible]
a Grammar School Master.
Ordered the Treasurer to pay wid. Hannah Giles three pounds one shilling and eight pence
for keeping of Abigail Ellinwood her first quarter as per agreement.
Ordered the Treasurer to pay Mr. Henry Herrick Jr. twelve pound for keeping of a Grammar
School three months as per agreement.
Ordered the Treasurer to pay Benjamin Jones Jr. twenty-five shillings, it being for abatements
in his list as follows viz. The tax of Noah Dodge 6/3, the tax of Richard Megreafe 6/3, the tax of
Richard King 6/3, Benjamin Rae tax 6/3 it appearing that they did not belong to this town.
Ordered the Treasurer to pay William Butman £ 3: 18 :0 for keeping of John Martin his first
quarter as per agreement.
Ordered the Treasurer to pay Mr. William Hazeltine six pound thirteen shillings and four
pence for keeping of the District School in the ferry district this season.
At the above said meeting of the Selectmen ordered that a Town Meeting should be warned
and held on Monday the eighth day of August next at the usual place for holding of Town meeting
in said Town at five o’clock afternoon.
To see if the town will pay their proportionable part of the charge of the committee of
Congress agreeable to a list exhibited to the Selectmen of this town from the Clerk of the Honorable
House of Representatives agreeable to their Resolves of said house and determine how said money
shall be raised or paid and there was a warrant issued out to Constable Joseph Woodberry to warn
the same accordingly.
