2004-01-15City of Beverly, Massachusetts Public Meeting Minutes Board: Board of Health Subcommittee: Date: January 15, 2004 Place: Council on Aging Board members present: , Frank S. Carbone Jr., MD Joseph W. Walsh, Jr. and William J. Alpine, Jr., Esq. Board members absent: Others present: William Burke, Director of Public Health and Pat Zingariello, Public Health Nurse Recorder: Judith A. Balboni Chairman Carbone called the meeting to order at 6:15 p.m. The Board accepted the minutes of the December 18, 2003 meeting as mailed. Mr. Burke updated the Board regarding the dental clinic. Sue Pelletier and Mr. Burke met with th Mary Foley of DPH, division of Oral Health on December 30. Ms. Foley described the licensing process/procedure and supplied the necessary paperwork. st The meeting on December 31 scheduled with Superintendent Lupini was postponed to January 14, 2004. Sue Pelletier, Pat Zingariello and Mr. Burke attended and discussed using the clinic’s existing location for the foreseeable future. The Board discussed Dental Clinic and licensing. Chairman Carbone suggested finding some sponsors such as ‘Friends of Dental Clinic’ who could run possible fundraisers. Another idea could be to publicize through newspapers or a brochure, some of the history of last 88 years in progress, that is, increase public awareness. Local organizations like Rotary, Kiwanis and local dentists have been helpful in the past. Mr. Burke and Pat Zingariello continue to participate in a sub-region of Public Health Emergency Preparedness Coalition. The sub-region has been named NS & CA Emergency Preparedness Coalition and is made up of 15 communities. The coalition stands to receive $223,534 in funding. The group is working on a governing structure and determination of need. Community Wellness Day is scheduled for Saturday, April 3, 2004. Pat & Bill will be meeting with Beverly Hospital on January 29, 2004. Pat has been contacting newspapers, vendors, BevCam, and other supporters for help. Pat Zingariello was happy to report all flu clinics were over. Chairman Carbone recommended having a meeting with Mayor Scanlon, possibly to discuss a five-year plan. Mr. Alpine has agreed to be reappointed to Board. The next scheduled meeting is February 19, 2004. Immediately following this meeting will be a Regional Boards of Health Meeting.
