Dear Councilors:
The Board of Registrars of Voters has visited the program room of the new Beverly Public Library
at the invitation of Mr. Thomas Scully, who has offered this facility to be used as a polling
place for Ward 2, Precincts 1 and 2. The current polling place for these precincts is the First
Baptist Church on Cabot Street.
The Board of Registrars respectfully requests your approval of this site for the Ward Two polling
places. The program room is particularly well suited for this activity. Each precinct will
have ample room and the workers will be very comfortavis. This will allow the facility to be set
up by Public Works Department on the day before the election; currently we must wait until
9:00 p.m. to wet up the Baptist Church on the day before the election. The Library provides more
parking and excellent handicapped access; moreover, it will introduce that expanded city building,
our new Library, to many who have yet to take advantage of its services.
If the Council approves, it requires notification by mail to all registered voters in the ward.
The Board of Registrars would appreciaty your prompt attention to this request. The Ward
Council has given his approval to the plan.
Very truly yours,
Constance E. Perron, City Clerk
