2002-12-18Planning & Construction Committee Minutes December 18, 2002 A Meeting of the Planning & Construction Committee was held on Wednesday, December 18, 2002, at 7PM at the Beverly Public Library, 32 Essex Street, Beverly, MA. Members Present: Ray Bouchard, Maureen Hobin, Cheryl Sydorko, Rod Maxner, Tim Brennan, Dan Skolski, and Debbie Comeau Others Present: Peter Seamans, Ron Bouchard, Sam Bird, Pete Gaudreau The Meeting was called to order at 7:05 PM by the Chairman, Mr. Bouchard. Mr. Seamans presented his report to the Commission on the status of the school building projects. The Commission is in receipt of a letter dated December 18, 2002 from Ron Bouchard regarding the lighting at North Beverly school. Mr. Maxner Motioned that the Commission acknowledge Mr. Bouchard’s letter and place it on file. The Motion was seconded by Mr. Brennan and carried unanimously. Mr. Seamans’ reports that 12 new room signs are needed at North Beverly due to a misunderstanding in the architect’s notes on shop drawings. Mr. Brennan made a Motion to table the matter until the next meeting. The Motion was seconded by Ms. Sydorko and carried unanimously. Mr. Bouchard reports that Mr. Gilmore has arranged a meeting between himself, Mr. Bouchard and Peabody Construction regarding the Hannah/Cove Schools. The Commission is in receipt of a Change Order Log from Sam Bird on Centerville School. A Motion was made by Mr. Maxner directing Ron Bouchard and Sam Bird to have Centerville School “microbial fogged” to insure that the school is free and clear of all mold. The Motion was seconded by Ms. Sydorko and carried unanimously. The Finance Department of the City has presented the City Council with a “Bond Order” on repairs to be made on the veranda roof at Beverly Golf & Tennis Club. The Bond has been approved and issued. A public meeting is scheduled for January. Mr. Ron Bouchard presented the following invoices from the school department for payment: 1. Valley Communications 1,288.00 Mr. Maxner Motioned that the Commission approve these bills as presented. Mr. Brennan requested that on future bills from the School Department, all line items be approved by the Business Manager. Ms. Hobin seconded the Motion made by Mr. Maxner. Valley Communications 541787 1,288.00 Mr. Maxner made a Motion to approve the invoices as presented. The Motion was seconded by Ms. Sydorko and carried unanimously. Mr. Bouchard reports that installation of the new boilers at Beverly High School is ongoing. The project is slated to be finished in February. The first boiler is installed (right hand) and will be fired in another week. This weekend they will shut the heat down to tie in the header. The “high pressure” gas line installation has been completed. The old left hand boiler is being used to heat the building presently. Mr. Maxner made a Motion to approve the Minutes of the November 20, 2002 Minutes. The Motion was seconded by Ms. Sydorko and carried unanimously.
