2001-08-15PLANNING & CONSTRUCTION COMMITTEE MINUTES AUGUST 15, 2001 A Meeting of the Planning & Construction Committee was held on Wednesday, August 15, 2001 at the Beverly Public Library, 32 Essex Street, Beverly, MA. Members Present: Raymond Boucherd, Chairman; Maureen Hobin, Cheryl Sydorko, Red Maxner, Thad Siemasko and Dabble Comeau Others Present: Ron Bouchard, Peter Seamans, Michael Harrison, Sam Bird, Judy Mulligan The Meeting was called to order at 7:10 PM by Mr. Bouchard. Mr. Seamans presented his report to the Commission regarding several school building projects around the City. Regarding technical issues at Ayers Ryal Side, he reported that the positon has been taken that the City owns the equipment. Flansburgh states that we should go ahead and exercise the 7-day letter and get another conlractor in to the finish the work before school begins. Mr. Maxner made a Motion to approve the Minutes of June 13, 2001 meeting. The Motion was seconded by Ms. Sydorko and carried unanimously. Mr. Mexner made a Motion to approve the Minutes of the July 18, 2001 meeting. The Motion was seconded by Ms. Sydorko end carded unanimously. Mr. Bouchard commented on a number of building projects happening throughout the City. Farms Library Project: an Ad has been placed for Designer Services and bids am due August 23, 2001. Hurd Stadium: have received sizing information from the school department regarding bleachers. The possibility of replacing all bleachers is being looked at and downsizing the amount of seating To 3000 people. Beverly Golf& Tennis Club: structural concrete needs to be repaired. Core samples were taken Last week. They will be tested to see if repairable or replaceable. Mr. Maxner made a Motion to approve the design concept for repairs to Hannah School roof as presented in a letter from Flansburgh Associates dated July 30, 2001. The Motion was secondad by Ms. Sydorko and carried unanimously. A Proposal has been submitted by Flansburgh Associates to effect concrete repairs to exposed concrete at Hannah School. Mr. Maxner made a Motion to table this mat~er. Ms. Sydorko seconded the Motion which was carried unanimously. Regarding North Beverly Elementary School, the School Depa~huent is in receipt cfa letter from DOE regarding the increase in reimbursement for the additional footage added to the school. The outcome is favorable and will be considered in the final analysis of cost. The Commission is in receipt of a letter dated August 2, 2001 regarding the Feasibility Study being done at the High School. The letter reviews the schedule of study to be done. The Commission is also in receipt of a letter dated July 31,2001 stating that the geo-technicai firm working on the study has recommended test pits instead of borings be taken at the high school. The Commission is in receipt of Minutes dated July 26, 2001 regarding the Public Safety Facility. Minutes 8/15/01 Page Two The following invoices were presented for payment: I. Yee Consulting 8305Z 7,335.00 Mr. Maxner made a Motion to approve the invoices as presented seconded by Ms. Hobin. The Motion was carried unanimously. ** These invoices were approved for payment but held until Mayor Scanlon could review them. 13. SMMA 0015585 $21,333.79 Mr. Maxner made a Motion to approve this invoice which was seconded by Ms. Hobin. The Motion was carried unnnimously.
