October 2023 Veterans Council Minutes AdvisoryVeterans i Meeting Minutes October 26, 2023 Present: Chuck Clark, Cory Paulette, Susan Moran, David Perinchief, Ron Genest, Paul Lantz, Bob Laws,Jan Pierce,John Curry, Nick Parianos, Kevin Gannon Absent: Buddy Rehal 1. Call to Order—Chuck Clark called the meeting to order at 5pm. 2. Introduction of Guests—Brian McCarthy, Paul Beaulieu from the Elks 3. Reading and Approval of the Minutes—Bob Laws made a motion to accept the minutes. Motion was seconded and carried. 4. Financial Report—$11,085. 5. Unfinished Business o Veterans Day—11/11 @ 11am at Vietnam Veterans Plaza. Rain plan is all set for Beverly High School. Paul Guanci will be handling the food. Cory Paulette will order the wreaths. Beverly Farms Ceremony gam, Beverly Hospital Ceremony 10am. o Pulling Flags for Veterans Day—Boy Scouts and Girl Scout troops have been invited to volunteer. Central Cemetery will need the most help. o Lanyards for Council Members—No company will do them unless there is an order of 100 lanyards. o Monuments for Afghanistan and Iraqi Wars—Buddy Rehal has left two messages for Mike Collins and has not heard back. Per Paul Lantz, Captain Michael Haskell from Beverly was killed in the Beruit Bombing. Per David Perinchief,we should focus on Beruit and let the OIF and OEF veterans work on their monument. o Social Media—Per Nick Parianos,the City Hall IT department has said not to a council email. We can set up a Gmail account. Nick created a Facebook Group so that there can be multiple admins to control what is posted. The posts pages will be linked to the Facebook Group. o Bench for Jerry Guilebbe—Cory Paulette received a $200 donation towards the bench. Post 46 is going to donate$200. BVV will donate$200. Jamie Zarella will donate$250. The VFW will donate$200. Kevin Gannon will get the rest from the Farms Improvement Society. There will be a dedication in the spring. Bob Laws will ask the Elks for a donation in the spring to pay for the refreshments at the dedication. AdvisoryVeterans i 6. New Business o Korean Era Veterans-The Korean Consulate is trying to find any surviving Korean Veterans or their relatives for an event in Randolph. Ken McKay pulled a roster of over 600 Korean Era veterans in Beverly. They are looking for anyone who was in Korea during the war. David Perinchief will need help cross-referencing city addressed and contacting all the veterans and/or families. o Warrior Weekend—David Perinchief will be putting in a fly over request for the two days. He needs to know of all vendors that will be attending so he can make sure everyone has a spot. Nick Parianos suggested creating a subcommittee. Jan Pierce and Susan Moran agreed to be on the committee. Traffic control will be needed. 7. Announcements o Paul Beaulieu from the Beverly/Peabody Elks spoke about having a veterans appreciation week. The Army/Navy Game will be at Gillette Stadium. December 2—91"will be veterans appreciation week. All veterans are welcome. On 12/2, food and entertainment will be provided starting at 4pm and then a 50/50 raffle. For the Army/Navy game on the 91", the bistro will be open at 3pm. A flyer will be put together and given to Bob Laws. o Certificate of Appreciation for Mobi-Cuts-Waiting for Cory Paulette's approval. o Holiday Parade—Corey Paulette will take care of signing up. o Pledge of Allegiance—Chuck Clark would like to start the next meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance. Everyone agreed. 8. Adjournment David Perinchief made a motion to adjourn. Motion was seconded and carried.
