Director's Report
Building Concerns and Usage
Heating— 1 of the four furnaces was disconnected by the city's plumber because it doesn't work
and so the others could run. Looking into replacing the whole heating and cooling systems.
Cooling 1 of 4 units is not working. Twenty-six thousand dollars to repair. Seniors complaining
about heat.
Parking lot needs to be repaved,
Administration and Finances
YTD budget reviewed.
Awaiting response to 3 of our grant applications this month.
The Senior Center was awarded $7,500 in Title III funding via Senior Care on July 241h.
Received $10,000 from a trust from a member that passed away. Awaiting approval from City
Council
Programs and Events
Senior Day in the Park, August 3ra
On August 14 we begin our monthly spotlight on different countries/cultures with Africa. We
will have authentic African food prepared by Wangari, the City's Diversity, Equity, Inclusion,
and Belonging Director. Music by renowned Balafon artist Balla Kouyate.
Meet Gary the Comfort Dog on August 2na
On September 5 h and 121h at 10 a.m. we will be having a full body low intensity workout class
run by Juliana of HIITQueen Fitness. First 2 classes are free. Members asked for activities for
younger seniors.

LBBTQ + Discussion Group, August 22. 10-15 attendance at meetings so far.
Personnel Updates/New Business
Julie Cleary, our former Front Desk Coordinator, accepted the position of Administrative
Assistant and started 7/20/23. Our new temporary Outreach/Activities Assistant Sophie has
been doing a great job assisting with Senior Day in the Park. The part-time driver position was
accepted and then rescinded because it is a non-benefit position. We have someone interested in
the position and we will interview him next week. The Front Desk Coordinator position is now
open and posted on the city's website. Several interested candidates will begin interviewing the
week of August 7t'.

Update for Senior Day in the Park
The cost per plate is $14. Senior Care is doing the meals. Total of 178 tickets sold do far,
$10,500 sponsorships
Committee Reports
Grants Committee- Held meeting today. Will hold second meeting to discuss concerns
