May 2019 Veterans Council Meeting MinutesBuddy Rehal called the meeting to order at 5:00pm. Veterans council members present:    Charles “Buddy” Rehal, Vice President   Susan Moran  David Perinchief  Donald O’Connor   Robert Laws   Paul Weinberg  Chuck Clark   Corey Paulette  Paul Lantz  Advisory members and guests:     Sam Schuesler, Commander of American Legion Post 331 Todd Rotondo, Ryal Side Civic Association David Perinchief made a motion to allow Todd Rotondo to speak first. Motion was seconded and carried. The Ryal Side Civic Association is holding a flagpole dedication ceremony. It is being dedicated to the First Responders and Veterans of Ryal Side. The ceremony will be Sunday, May 26 @ 10am. He would like a representative of the veteran’s council to attend. David Perinchief will attend. Reading and Approval of the Minutes   The minutes were emailed to all members prior to the meeting for review.  Paul Weinberg made a motion to accept the minutes.  Motion was seconded and carried.    COMMITTEE REPORTS Financial Report – Per David Perinchief, everything remains the same. Paul Weinberg made a motion to accept the financial report. Motion was seconded and carried. 04-6001379 tax id UNFINISHED BUSINESS Memorial Day - Everything is in order. The city lot will be shut down and cleared out. The guest speaker will be Maj. Gary Sampson. Flag Retirement Ceremony – Friday, June 14th. Permits have been submitted to the Beverly rec. dept. Vietnam Veterans Memorial – Working to get the name “Vietnam Veterans Memorial Plaza” put up. Discussed putting up an archway. Volunteers have come forward to take care of the garden at the memorial. NEW BUSINESS Financial Assistance for Summer Camp – Bob Laws made a motion to approve the request for financial assistance. Motion was seconded. Vote was 9-0 against; motion failed. Good of the Order Congratulation to Sam Shuesler on becoming the new American Legion Post Commander. The VFW will be canning this weekend. Adjournment Paul Weinberg made a motion to adjourn. Motion was seconded and carried. The next meeting will be June 27, 2019
