Chair Ouellette calls the meeting to order at 6:31 p.m.
1. Applications:
a. Sala, 131 Rantoul St., Beverly, MA 01915. Sign: Sala, 131 Rantoul St.
Applicant Alexander Curran is present and states that the proposed design is a circular projecting
sign on the primary fagade of the building that will be backlit with gooseneck lights. Curran
states that the sign will be located on the Rantoul Street side of the building,primarily visible
from the northbound direction of Rantoul Street. Curran states that the placement of the sign will
have 12 feet of vertical clearance.
The Members discuss that the Board initially approved two blade signs and that the applicant
went before the Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) and received the permit. The Board discusses
that it is not necessary for the applicant to go before the ZBA for the proposed additional circular
sign and that it is within the ordinance to have up to one projecting sign.
Flannery: Motion to approve the sign as presented. Lukitsch seconds. Motion carries
(4-0).
b. Supercuts, 2-6 Enon St, Unit 4A, Beverly, MA 01915. Sign: Supercuts, 2-6 Enon St,
Unit 4A.
Bill McFadden of Barlo Signs presents the design for the wooden wall sign, which will be
externally illuminated. The directional sign will be a 10-inch panel.
The Board discusses that the proposal is compliant.
Flannery: Motion to approve the sign as presented. Lukitsch seconds. Motion carries
(4-0).

c. R&L Hair Studio, 505 Rantoul St., Beverly,MA 01915. Sign: R&L Hair Studio,
505 Rantoul St.
Erjon Lena is present on behalf of the applicant, his wife Xhejola Lena. Lena states that the
depth of the existing frame is one inch, and it is 11 feet high from the ground. Lena states that the
salon location is across from Burger King on Rantoul Street.
The Board discusses that the proposal is compliant.
Flannery: Motion to approve the sign as presented. Lukitsch seconds. Motion carries
(4-0).
d. Kitchen Table, 392 Cabot St., Beverly, MA 01915. Sign: Kitchen Table, 392 Cabot
St.
Applicant William Fogarty is present and states that the proposed project is to replace the awning
fabric on the existing frame with the restaurant's logo on a dark blue background. Fogarty states
that there will be no additional lighting, and that the existing lighting will be redirected onto the
sign.
The Board discusses that the blade sign is compliant. The Board discusses that the location of the
sign does not require a special permit.
Flannery: Motion to approve the sign as presented. Lukitsch seconds. Motion carries
(4-0).
e. Siana Aesthetics Medical Spa, 100 Cummings Center
Douglas Hanson of Signs by Doug is present. The Board discusses that it is a new sign,not a
replacement sign, and that it meets the specifications of the Cummings Center Properties.
Chair Motion to approve the sign as presented. Lukitsch seconds. Motion carries
Ouellette: (4-0).
L Coastal Orthopedic Associates, 152 Conant Street, Beverly, MA 01915. Sign: Coastal
Orthopedic Associates, 152 Conant St.
Bill Kielbasa of Northshore Signarama is present and states that Coastal Orthopedic Associates
is moving to the Cummings Center from Beverly Hospital. Kielbasa states that the [two] displays
are each approximately 60 square feet with standard channel letters, mounted on raceways, with
13-inch-high lettering. Kielbasa states that the signs will be internally lit with white acrylic
lettering. Kielbasa states that the signs will be anchored to the building with masonry anchors.
The Board discusses that the Beth Israel sign will remain in place. The Board discusses that the
temporary sign in place now is approximately the same size as the permanent signs will be and

that the colors will be consistent with the logo colors. Kielbasa and the Board discuss that the
landlord requested that the signs be approximately the same size as the existing Beth Israel signs.
The Board discusses that the project will require a variance due to its larger size.
Flannery: Motion to recommend approval by the ZBA for special permit the sign as
presented. Lukitsch seconds. Motion carries (4-0).
g. Cross Country Mortgage, 181 Elliott St., (aka 100 Cummings Center 106),
Beverly, MA 01915. Sign: Cross Country Mortgage, 181 Elliot St.
The applicant is not present. The Board discusses that the proposal is compliant with the
Cummings Center specifications.
Chair Motion to approve as presented. Lukitsch seconds. Motion carries (4-0).
Ouellette:

The applicant is not present. The Board discusses that the proposal is compliant.
Chair Motion to approve the sign as presented. Flannery seconds. Motion carries

i. Oak Forest Farm LLC, Gary Corsetti, 19 Ocean Ave, Magnolia, MA 01930.
Site Review: Oak Forest Farm LLC, 128 Boulder Lane.
Tom Alexander of Alexander& Femino, designer Chris Poravas, and principal of the LLC Gary
Corsetti are present. Alexander states that the Salem-Beverly Water Supply Board's comments
were taken into account in this revised proposal and therefore the single building will be now be
three separate buildings, each 100 feet wide with 20-foot spaces in between them.
The Board discusses that breaking up the building into three buildings allows for more green
space and that the color of the buildings will be dark green with gray doors.
The Board discusses the following conditions:
• Plan C-3: South side of the building—The applicant must plant a Canadian or Eastern
Hemlock tree, which is a shade-tolerant native tree. The applicant must provide tree
staking (one minimum)to support the tree from prevailing wind. Tree pit excavations
must be a minimum of 2.5 times the root ball width and 30-36 inches deep. Tree pit
backfill must be imported amended topsoil. A natural wood mulch saucer must be
provided at the base to help retain moisture and protect the tree from mowing.

• Plan C-3: The applicant must provide a minimum of nine to six inches of amended
topsoil and six inches of ordinary loam borrow below all seeded and planted areas.
• Plan C-3: All disturbed site areas except for the boulder embankment must be seeded
with Upland See Mix Woodland Edge Shade Mix 765.453. The seed mix must be applied
using hydroseeding and hydro mulching. The drawings for the landscape contractor must
include the notation to follow Mass.gov Native Seeding and establishment guidance Note
765.635.
• The applicant must provide adequate root ball excavation width and depth, amended
topsoil backfilling and mulching, and double-staking for the Red Maple tree.
Chair Motion to recommend to the Planning Board site plan approval for 128
Ouellette: Boulder Lane with conditions as discussed. Lukitsch seconds. Motion carries
(4-0).
