BOD 021423 Meeting Minutes Beverly Council on Aging Advisory Board Minutes Date: February 14, 2023 Place: BCOA and Senior Center, Colon Street Members Present: Rich Tabbut, Barrence Whitfield, Stephanie Tallo, Jessica Wistran, Blair Smith, Robert Hobbs, Susan Feeney Staff Present: Bruce Doig, Suzanne Kosch, Sandy Mahoney Meeting Called to order: 2:38 p.m. Secretary Report Accepted by Robert Hobbs, Seconded by Stephanie Tallo Director's Report (Bruce Doig) Building Concerns and Usage We cannot have weekly Boy/Girl Scout meetings at the Senior Center. Directed to other locations Volunteer recruitment event planning taking place for Red Cross. Determination of time and date hasn't been finalized. Discussed making Senior Center building available for various groups in the future. Groups would pay to use meeting space. Room rental policy does exist. Will bring current policy to next BOD meeting. Creation of a "Friends of Beverly Senior Center" discussed. Discussed whether to charge for Pizza night. Will wait until new Council of Aging of director is here. Reviewed Senior Center Enterprise Fund. We bring in monies from charges for activities. Sandy is now collecting money prior to classes. Administration and Finances YTD Budget Reports Reviewed budget. Suzanne discussed. Transferred $2500 into Overtime budget. COA Formula Grant discussed. Reviewed Senior Center Enterprise Fund. Sandy is meeting with travel organization for possible day trips. Plan to start small and later investigate overnight excursions. Big Band event on March 23ra Yoga and exercise classes well attended. Mardi Gras event taking place later this week. Over 40 people attended Big Band Event. Free presentation by hearing aid company planned. Will pre-screen people to see if they need hearing aids. Committee Reports Will discuss at next BOD meeting Unfinished business Transition Planning; Director Search Update Five candidates interviewed for position in first round. Four names passed on to the mayor. Have made an offer to one. Awaiting person accepting an offer and review by human resource department. Bruce Doig will sign documents as needed. New Council of Aging Director will set goals. Defer discussion on bulletin board policy until next meeting. New Business List of Priorities Enhance transportation.
