Director's Report
Building Concerns and Usage
Part-Time custodian is covering extra hours in Building Manager's leave
Mike Collins notified of need to make sure snow removal and de-icing is arranged for
Vehicle 49 needs to be replaced and funded. Bill Burke is looking into funding it. Handicap
Accessible Van is preference. Licensing requirements easier for van. Driver's union needs to be
consulted. We presently have 4 buses. One needs to be backup. Vans hold 6-8 people.
Administration and Finances
YTD Budget Reports
Budget year-to-date doing well. Transferred $2,500 from Maintenance to Overtime Budget.
Heating fuel expenses are understated so far. Spent $45K of 173K COA Formula Grant so far in
FY2023. Next meeting will discuss further.
Programs and Events
Breakfast Club Update. Meeting Thursday at Beverly High School. Had meeting in December.
Holiday events were well attended and enjoyed by all. Beverly High School Chorus came to
lunch and sang for 64 persons.
Sandy looking into local trips for seniors. She is the new Activities Director.
Casino Trips being explored. Need 45 persons for bus company to do them. Plan 2-3 during
Spring. Sandy will address BOD next month.
R&R big Band might return to Senior Center in February for a Tuesday morning concert.
Hopefully they will come back several times per month. It is a 16-piece band and dancing is
included. Masks may be required.
Activities survey results are in from November 2022 newsletter. Sixty people responded.
Daytime dancing, casino trips, arts and crafts, cornhole, intergenerational programs, and exercise
classes were popular. Zen garden mediation and movies are wanted also. Other ideas included
outside shows and plays, pickleball, darts, and axe throwing. We do not have a budget for
activities. New England area trips being explored. On February 14'h the Big Band is coming
back, will see interest. Sandra Mahoney presented results
Meetings/Activities/Clients/Clients of Concern
Holiday Outreach report given. Amanda tallied 71 bags, cards, and visits. Had sponsors to help.
Beverly Bootstraps gave out 1/z of bags. Other half given out by interns. Gift cards were handed
out to people who needed them. Two hundred holiday cards were sent out.
Fire victims were called. One person had mobile housing voucher. She has Senior Care.
One client of concern being worked on by MaryAnn. Working with community unit on him.
Personnel Updates
Victoria is not returning to the Council of Aging. Need to hire new director before assistant
director. We have 8-10 applicants. Have not started interview process. Interviews starting soon.

Unfinished Business
Policy on what to post on the community bulletin board briefly discussed, recognizing that a
policy does not currently exist. MaryAnn Holak will forward a draft proposal to board members
to review and consider for discussion at the next meeting.
Transition Planning -
MaryAnn Holak pointed out again the transition packet provided to all BOD members, and the
Senior Center Chart of Duties, Chain of Command, and Authorizations; as well as having
reviewed this with staff in a meeting on 1/9/23.

Adjourned 3:58 pm with recognition that this was MaryAnn Holak's last board meeting.
Gratitude was expressed by many board members for her years of service.
