6-24-21 The FY2022 departmental budget is essentially level funded. Mr. Burke, however, was unable to attend the City Council budget meeting. Teresa Kirsch stated that the Community Collaborative held 12 clinics at Salem State University. Six clinics gave 326 first doses and six gave 314 second doses. Currently, the case count in the city is low with less than 5 active cases. There have been 3699 cases and 208 deaths in Beverly. 62% of the state population is fully vaccinated. Boosters are being worked on, as well as vaccine for children. The Household Hazardous Waste Collection held April 24 collected items from 416 vehicles, as opposed to 320 in 2019, 203 in 2018, and 205 in 2017. Mr. Burke thanked Ms. Higgins and the staff for working at the collection. The Health Department filled the two part-time Principal Clerk positions in May. Pamela Woodberry started in the administrative office on May 10. She is working out well and is a good fit with existing staff. Rosa Babb started on May 17 at the Dental Clinic. The Dental Clinic closed for the summer on June 17. Warm weather seasonal inspections have begun. Joe Reale, Inspector, is inspecting semi-public swimming pools, while David Goodwin began collecting beach water for testing on June 15. Teresa Kirsch and David Goodwin are inspecting children's recreational camps. Mr. Burke thanked the Health Department staff for support through challenging times.
