1998-09-23PLANNING AND CONSTRUCTION COMAMITTEE MINUTES SPECIAL MEETING SEPTEMBER Z3, 1998 A Special Meeting of the Planning & Construction Committee was held on Wednesday, Septtuber 23, 1998 at 7 PM at the McKeown School, Beverly, MA. Present were: Chairman, Raymond Bouchard, Thad Siemasko, Rod Maxher, Manteen Hobin, Robert Griffin, Tim Brennan,Cheryl Sydorko and Debbie Comean, Sccrctaxy. Also Present were William Lupini, Judith Mulligan, Peter Scam~nn and kanne Kuespen. Mr. Bouchard called the meeting to order at 7:15 PM. Ms. Kuespert of Earl R. Fhnlburgh & Associates, Inc. presented the design plans and Project Schedules for the Consffuction on the Hannah and Cove Elemcntm3t Schools slated to begin ]aly l, 1999. The present plan calls for the Hannah Elementary to he closed with the students to he moved to the McKay School. Construction would begin at this time also at Cove Elementary to the rear of that school. This construction on that part of the school would take place during the 1999/2000 school year. That school would close at the end of that school year with the remaintier of the construction to take place during the next scl~ol year. Mr. Lupini exp~ssal concerns regarding construction workers being on the property durin~ school hour~ He would like Corey Checks done on all workers and that they adhere to a strict policy of "no smoking" on school grounds. Mr. Bouchard suggested that the Committee check this out with the City Solicitor and ask that it be built into the bids for construction~ The Construction Packagcs on both schools gave the Committee an "assumed cost". A Motion was made by Mr. Maxnor and seconded by Mr. Brennan which asks that Flansborgh & Associates go forward with obtaining a cost estimate on both schools at this time. This motion was carried unanimously. Ms. Kuespert stated that they will inflate the costs to the bid date. The following bffis were submitted by Ms. Malligan for approval by the Committee. 1. W.B. Haley &Aldrich 1,795,98 A Motion was made by Mr. Maxher to pay these bills as presented which was seconded by Ms. Sydorko. The Motion was carried uanimously.
