1996-03-04ELEMENTARY FACILITIES BUILDING COMMISSION
The Elementary Facilities Building Commission mat on Monday, March 4,
1996 at the Briscoe Middle School at 9:15 p.m. The meeting was scheduled to
begin at 8:00 p.m. but was delayed due to the School Committee meeting held
prior running later than expected. The School Committee voted to accept
Option 6 as recommended by the Building Commission. Present were
Michael Lauranzano, Nancy Levin, Judy Mulligan, Rod Maxner,. Tom Scully,
Mayor ScanIon, Earl Flansburgh, Jack Campbell and Jeanne Kuespert of Earl
Flansburgh & Associates, Mike Radner of Geller Associates and Stell Mae
Searnans of the School Commitee. ERF & A handed out material related to
site development and the costs associated with each of three options offered
for each site. Option 1 was accepted at each school. Some of the additional
amenities offered in Option 2 were accepted for some of the sites. It was
decided to eliminate the separate drop off/pickup for kindergarten at Cove
but to add additional parking. The possibility of purchasing additional land at
Ayers to alleviate traffic flow was discussed. At Centerville the new access
road would be eliminated and replaced with a turnaround. North Beverly
would include Option 2, Hannah would include some additional parking and
the New School would not include Option 2. Option 3, which includes
playground area and playing fields is eliminated at this time with hopes that
it can be restored at a later date through cost savings or an additional
appropriation. The next meeting will be held at 12:00 noon on Monday,
March ll, 1996.
