1996-03-18ELEMENTARY FACILITIES BUILDING COMMISSION MINUTES
The Elementary Facilities Building Commission met on Monday, March 18,
1996 at 12:00 noon at the Briscoe ~'Liddle School. Present were Mike
Lauranzano, Nancy Levin, John Drislane, Judy Mulligan, Rod'Maxner, Tom
Scully, Earl Flansburgh and Jeanne Kuespert of Earl R. Flansburgh +
Associates and Mike Radner of Geller Associates. The Civil Engineering
proposal was discussed and reviex~,ed. Mike Lauranzano chose the firm of
Guerriere & Halnon at a cost of 5105,000. The architects went over a list of
items needed for submission to the state. It was decided that Judy Mulligan
would be responsible for gathering all the necessary documentation. They
recommended that the School Con-unittee formally vote to approve the site
of the new school at their next meeting. They also recommended that a site
visit by DOE be scheduled. It was brought up that the City Council needs to
approve the bonding for the project before June 1. There will be a meeting
this week to discuss parking requirements at each school with the Building
Inspector, Planning Director, Mayor and a representative of the Building
Commission. There was a discussion regarding a secondary access to the
Ayers School off of Bridge St. Geller Associates did not recommend using the
current emergency access as there would be an insufficient turning radius
and the cost would be excessive due to the grade. Judy Mulligan requested
that minutes of several prior meetings be approved, having made copies
available to commission members earlier. It was moved by Mike Lauranzano
and seconded by Nancy Levln to approve the minutes of the February 20 and
26 meetings and the March 4, 11 and 13 meetings. So approved. The next
meeting will be held on Monday, March 25, 1996 at 12:00 noon.
Respectfully submitted,
Judith A. Mulligan
