1885-08-14August 14, 1885 School Committee met. Present Messr. Baker, Giddings, Day, Griffin, Hinkley, Boyden, Tuck. Voted that the fall term of the public schools commence Monday, Aug. 31. Voted to hold an additional examination of applicants for admission to the High School on Saturday, Aug. 29. Voted that Miss Carrie H. Kendall be [illegible] of the Briscoe Grammar School [illegible] to be at the rate of five [illegible] dollars per year. Voted to pay Miss Kendall twenty five dollars for expenses if she accepts the position. Voted that the Farms School sub-committee be authorized to have the so much of the promises whitewashed as they think expedient. Voted that the Washington School sub-committee to have transome put in at the building. Voted to adjourn till Monday evening next. Wm. H. Lovett, Secretary
