A special meeting of the Beverly School Committee was held on Monday, September 8, 2003, at
the Briscoe Middle School, Beverly, MA.
Members Present: Ms. Bell, Ms. Brusil, Ms. Coburn, Ms. Cronin, Ms. Norris,
and Mr. Tallo.
Members Absent: Mayor Crean
Administrators in Attendance: Dr. William Lupini, Superintendent of Schools; Dr. James
Hayes, Assistant Superintendent of Schools
President Coburn called the meeting to order at 6 PM.
The Committee interviewed David Jack, a candidate for the position of Director of Finance
and Operations. Mr. Jack spoke of his experience as Business Manager in Lincoln Public
Schools and as Assistant Superintendent of Schools for Business for the Derry Cooperative
School District in Derry New Hampshire. Committee members asked Mr. Jack many
questions about his experiences in school building projects, building maintenance and
finance.
A motion was made by Ms. Brusil and seconded by Ms. Bell to hire David Jack as Director
of Finance and Operations at a salary of $94,000 per year, prorated to an agreed upon starting
date for 2003-2004. So voted
The Committee adjourned at 7:10 pm.
