2003-10-01BEVERLY PUBLIC SCHOOLS BEVERLY, MASSACHUSETTS October 1, 2003 A special meeting of the Beverly School Committee was held on Wednesday, October 1, 2003, at the Briscoe Middle School, Beverly, MA. Members Present: Ms. Bell, Ms. Coburn, Ms. Cronin, Ms. Norris, and Mr. Tallo and Mayor Crean. Members Absent: Ms. Brusil Administrators in Attendance: Dr. William Lupini, Superintendent of Schools President Coburn called the meeting to order at 7 PM. The Committee interviewed Mr. Thomas Durkin, a candidate for the position of Director of Finance and Operations. Committee members asked Mr. Durkin many questions about his experience as Director of Finance for the City of Beverly, Treasurer for the City of Peabody and Essex County Budget Analyst. Mr. Durkin spoke of how he would apply the skill set he has developed to benefit the Beverly Public Schools. A motion was made by Ms. Cronin and seconded by Mayor Crean to convene to Executive Session to discuss negotiations with non-union personnel and return to Open Session. Roll Call unanimous: Yes: Mr. Norris, Mr. Tallo, Ms. Bell, Mayor Crean, Mrs. Cronin, Mrs. Coburn The Committee adjourned to Executive Session at 7:40 pm. The Committee returned to Open Session at 8:15 pm. A motion was made by Ms. Cronin and seconded by Ms. Bell to offer Thomas Durkin the position of as Director of Finance and Operations at a salary of $80,000 per year. So voted.
